What would happen if you take the best C64 game of 1983 and make a naive port with a modern game engine? Can't be anything less than interesting.
This project is a variant of the classic video game Blue Max. More than merely a port, there are extra levels and quirks not found in the original game.
It's about curiosity. Always eager to learn something. I want to rediscover the joy and beauty of simple video games. Perhaps some general understanding of what makes a game exciting comes to light in the process. This project is not for profit.
The game is developed in Unity. The current version is built for WebGL and is available online. It is very much a work in progress. In the end I might just rewrite the whole game for another game engine.
I am a semi retired engineer with many years of professional dev experience. Embedded, frontend, backend, testing, management. I have seen technologies and trends come and go. My experience in game development is quite limited. That is one of the reasons I'm having a go with this project.
